In the comments to these weekly posts (and only these posts), it's your chance to go as off topic as you like. Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

So POTUS 45 has stated that he will declare a National Emergency to allow him to divert the money for his fershlugging Wall from other Government projects.

Sixteen States have now launched a legal action against him saying it's unconstitutional for him to do this.

There was a rather fun thread on Quora asking "Why do many British people not like Donald Trump?" which came up with some very creative, and very British, replies.

Also in the UK, seven Labour MPs have quit the party over a combination of disagreements with the current leadership over Brexit, and the handling of frequent accusations of anti-Semitism within the party. They will now stand as independents. They may be joined by more, and a few Conservatives too, as dissatisfaction with the Brexit "negotiations" continues to spread.

I'll gloss over the closing of a car plant in Swindon costing 3,500 jobs and the closure of an airline because apparently they were officially NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH BREXIT... though I think it might be more truthful to say that Brexit didn't exactly HELP the situation.

"The Simpsons" has been renewed for Seasons 31 and 32! "Supernatural" renewed for season 15. Make of those what you will.

"The Dragon Prince" season 2 arrived unexpectedly on Netflix last week. Some cracking moments in this, with the introduction of Queen Aanya being a highlight (as was the flashback featuring her parent's, the Queens' Annika and Neha of Duren (Yup, no King and Queen, but two Queens, and yes they were a couple). It might have been nicer if we didn't already know that both mum's were dead (since Aanya was now Queen), and the old "Kill your gays" trope raised it's head again, but it has to be said, if you're going to go down, going down fighting a giant dragon side by side with your wife to save two entire kingdoms, is kinda one of the most awesome options). Also more intriguing world-building and magic (and there MUST be more to Callum and Ezran's mother, since both of them have abilities that humans should NOT be able to have by the established rules)

Multiple episodes of Miraculous Ladybug aired, including a remarkably uninspired clip show episode (which did have a little gem of a scene in it, but boy was it a slog to get there). It's a long time since I saw a cartoon clip show episode.

TWO teams of misfit superheroes showed up on TV, DC's "Doom Patrol" was amazing, and Netflix's "Umbrella Academy" is as close to a live action adaption of a very weird series as we're likely to see, even improving on at least one aspect (Sorry, but the White Violin's costume was visually striking on the comic book page, but never looked like something anyone would actually wear, still less on TV)

Toy Fair happened in New York. Though some interesting things showed up, not sure there's anything particularly surprising (beyond Ectotron - a Transformer based on Ghostbusters Ecto-1) or anything which made me go "Oooh! Gimme!!"

Posting a bit from three chapters of the first volume of Kaguya-Sama, Love is War a series I just got into cause of the currently airing anime adaptation. This is a romantic comedy, but if you think that's not the most serious business in the world, I have one thing to say to you...

Today we will show the profile of the school, and a preamble on our combatants before moving onto our battlefields, a movie theatre and the insidious mind game, twenty-questions.

"I wanted to tell a story that had the darkness and grittiness that's fairly classic Wild Cards, but that was also small and personal like Demo and the best of Astro City." - Daniel Abraham, co-creator of The Expanse

He'd been sent after some kids.

They'd been saved from him by the psiot Livewire, looking into what Toyo Harada'd left behind.

She wanted to know more about Rex-O, so she dove into the dark web.

" Rex-O. What is your story? "

" I WAS DEAD. "

“When we first teamed for Daredevil, DC called us. This was years ago. They offered me and Alex to leave Marvel and come do Batman. We looked at each other and were like, ‘ahh they finally called and we can’t come!’ Anyone can relate to this, once in a while you get a call and later you think, ‘I wonder what would have happened if I had done this?’ There was no sliding door, we weren’t going to leave Marvel at the time. But we’ve always thought about it. So when I came to DC, I had to call Alex. He said, ‘I want Batman! I’ve waited so many god damn years!’ If you put a piece of paper in front of Alex, he’ll draw Batman. That’s his go-to. So there was a lot of context when DC offered us to do a story in Detective Comics #1000. I was like oh yeah, this will scratch that itch beautifully for me and Alex.” -- Brian Michael Bendis

"I like treating these characters as the stars of their own vignettes. I see the book as these little glimpses into all of their lives, their personal stories, and the complication of their lives is what seems to keep them apart or drive them apart most of the time." -- Gerard Way

As a heads up Dark Horse via Comixology is having both a sale for 'Umbrella Academy' as well as a standard 50% off sale for Valentines' Day. The latter works on the former so if you check out the sale here and use the DH50 code before tomorrow you will be able to get most of the series for 75% off.

Starting tomorrow on DC Universe and spinning out of "Titans", comes the series about the misfit superbeings the world doesn't want, but probably needs.
